Wounded World is a collection of linked lyric essays that examine how our social problems have their roots in spiritual disquiet. It often seems to me that only by shifting our spiritual perspective that these problems can be resolved.
The essays were written between 2005 and 2010. They were inspired by my meditation practice and my experience as a student and teacher of Kundalini Yoga and meditation, as well as a 2006 trip to Amritsar and Rishikesh, India that was made possible by a COLA grant from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
The collection was originally conceived of as a text work, but I was inspired by the photography of Yvonne M. Estrada, who so graciously agreed to have her images included here.
This blog is an experiment in publication and marketing. By publishing these essays in a serial fashion first, I hope to get comments and feedback that will influence the eventual publication as a book and an e-book. I’m very interested in using new technologies to engage readers, and I am grateful for your attention and participation.
